I am seeking ceramic pieces made by my grandmother in the 50's. She owned a business in North Miami called KobieCraft near Griffing Blvd. Her pieces have an impression of a hat pin on the bottom.
In the 50's I watched her hand mold characatures of Bob Hope,Red Skelton and Jimmy Durante from clay. The figures are about 10 inches tall. I'm almost sure she sent these statues to the respective stars of yesteryear. She also wrote a script/skit for Red Skelton that was performed on his TV comedy show
I presently still have a smattering of her pieces,i.e.,an egyptian mask, a 10 inch tall seahorse studded with rhinestones, two 2 ft tall roosters painted in natural colors and highlighted with gold.
My grandmother,Helen Kobie was a true artist. She helped me discover I had artistic talent which is why I now paint portraits and old steam trains
She died in the early 60's from a brain tumor. To this day I still miss her.
Yours Truly,Dennis
P.S. You have a brilliant show.Forge on my friend and God bless...remember John, every house has one.(just kidding)

I have a mirror that I purchased in East Berlin in the late 60's. The silvering is off the mirror back in several places so it looks streaked, but I have not done any repairs. The frame is porcelain, I believe, painted with gold. Do you have any idea of value?

re bell bottoms as a life preserver; this is possible with most long pants ( works very well with blue jeans ) only you tie the cuffs together to form a loop. this was a drown-proofing tip taught to me as a freshman at Ga Tech in 1968. the actor Peter Cyote (sp?) is a well known digger from the Haight in SF in the late 60's and early 70's.
